Vegas’ export economy is largely (almost exclusively) dependent on tourism. To broaden their appeal to tourists, it comes as no surprise that they are proposing the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes. Amsterdam’s successful tourism industry, coupled with a reduction in crime and hard drug use, is a testament to this strategy.

In the day after a Tribune online poll aired, 90.5% of 1160 responses said that Nevada’s proposal to legalize recreational marijuana smoking was a “good idea.” Perhaps for different reasons, the Economist published a similar conclusion in a survey on the legalization of virtually all illegal substances.
